Home Alone & Home Alone 2 Movie Marathon

Guide & Overview

Movie Marathon Setup

This guide is not intended to be innovative. I.e. I am likely not introducing the concept of a movie marathon to you here. The primary takeaway is a structure that you can easily replicate so that you don’t have to think about the granular steps, and have more time and brain space to just enjoy. With that - let’s dig in!

Your Shopping List

This could be iterated on for your family’s specific needs/preferences but as a baseline, the following items are your perfect shopping list for a Home Alone family movie night:

  • Pre-made pizza crusts

  • 1 bag of shredded pizza cheese

  • Preferred pizza toppings and sauce(s)

  • Microwave popcorn

  • 1/2 Gallon Vanilla ice cream (or preferred flavor)

  • Ice cream toppings

  • Whipped Cream

Itinerary

Time Needed: 4-5 hours - we typically start around 4 pm

  • 4 pm - Assemble the pizzas and put in the oven to bake. Most pre-made pizza crusts call for 10-15 minutes bake time. This gives you time to bake, cool, and slice for a 4:30 movie start time

  • 4:30 pm - Begin Home Alone movie! We’re big fans of living room picnics to create an intimate / rule breaking environment for family fun nights

  • 5:30 pm - Make sundaes! Kevin makes his patented ice cream sundae at approximately 1h 10m into the movie. Prep those sundaes and eat them along with our brave protagonist

  • 6:30 pm - Finish Home Alone and break for snacks. We’re big homemade popcorn fans here.

  • 6:45 pm - Begin Home Alone 2: Lost In New York. With a run time of exactly 2 hours, this is the perfect length to finish the evening!
